Design Approach

The Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens attracts a range of visitors from school groups, to families, to seniors. It was important for Signature Design to create a wayfinding system that would function for diverse visitors across a large 62,000-acre site that includes themed botanical gardens, a sculpture garden, and the woodland arboretum. 

Designs include a beautifully layered system of flags in different colors and scales. Sign materials use local materials such as native wood embedded with a metal leaf motif that is now a visual signature for the site.
